Course Description
THIS COURSE MEETS ONE HOUR OF ETHICS FOR SOCIAL WORK LICENSURE
The social work landscape is changing. We have more information at our fingertips than ever before. Telehealth technologies are being successfully utilized to broaden the reach of many practices. It is important for Social Workers to understand these services in a way that they can explain to consumers. Learn about the 2018 changes NASW made to the Code of Ethics, many of which focus on technology. During this workshop we will take an entry-level look at these changes to help participants understand the updates and how they have the potential to impact practice. This training will count for 1 hour of Ethics related instruction.
Course Objectives
Through this workshop participants will:
- Gain a base understanding of basic telehealth technologies available to practice social work
- Understand telemental health terminology
- Understand how to maintain ethical boundaries when utilizing technology in practice
- Understand NASW guidelines on ethical practices for use of technology with tele-therapy including which platforms can be used, and considerations for risks/benefits of tele-therapy
