Course Description
This short training draws parallels between the emotional impact of COVID-19 and grief and loss symptoms and provides information for helping professionals to assist their clients in dealing with the isolating effects of the Coronavirus. Topics covered: grief and loss, collective emotional states, different kinds of loss, impacts of physical distance from those we love, secondary losses, rituals of transition, comparative suffering, grieving process, disrupted mourning, self-care.
Course Objectives
- Understand the negative implications of comparative suffering
- Describe the impacts of delayed grief and disrupted mourning
- Know the role of self-care for self and clients during a pandemic
- Define secondary losses and the place of ritual in our lives
