THIS COURSE FULFILLS THE ETHICS REQUIREMENT FOR SOCIAL WORK LICENSURE 

This presentation will provide an overview of ethical dilemmas and some solutions when working with the older adult population in social services. It will touch on recognizing when legal authorities or legal processes need to be pursued. Throughout the presentation, common mental health diagnoses, myths and truths, and treatment will be presented. It will also provide an inside look at the level of care offered to older adults; including services for veterans. Lastly, participants will discuss the barriers and solutions to engaging older adults and their families.

Course Objectives

  • Participants will be able to identify and resolve ethical dilemmas related to older adults.
  • Attendees will be educated on the different levels of care for the older adult population so that providers can offer the appropriate level of care .
  • Participants will learn common mental and behavioral health issues associated with the older adult population and provide possible community supports and solutions .
