Course Description

2.5 HOURS OF SOCIAL WORK CONTINUING EDUCATION

In this course we will examine how cultural insensitivity has perpetuated the health disparities experienced by LGBTQ+ individuals. Participants will learn how to use appropriate language with LGBTQ+ patients in clinical settings. This training will cover organizational barriers to accessing care and will highlight organizational and personal efforts individuals can employ to increase cultural responsiveness care for and engagement with for LGBTQ+ persons in a clinical setting.

Course Objectives

  • Utilize appropriate language when working with LGBTQ+ patients in clinical settings
  • Identify key aspects of culturally responsiveness care for patients that identify as LGBTQ+
  • Describe best practices for engaging patients that identify as LGBTQ+ in clinical services
