Course Description

3 HOURS OF SOCIAL WORK CONTINUING EDUCATION

Using presentations, videos, and demonstrations, the trainer will guide participants in learning the important components of the spirit and skills for effective use of Motivational Interviewing (MI) with people who have substance use disorders. Participants will have an opportunity to explore MI skills using “role-play”, “real play” and experiential approaches.

Course Objectives

Participants will be able to:

• Define Motivational Interviewing (MI)
• Identify the core components of the spirit
• Explore and practice the use of the OARS (skills)
