Course Description

1.5 HOURS OF SOCIAL WORK CONTINUING EDUCATION

Due to recent events related to COVID-19, many social workers were forced to adapt their services to online formats. As professionals quickly tried to provide continuity of services, many had to learn on the job. In this presentation, faculty members of the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work and local clinicians collaborate to present on this timely subject.

Objectives

By the end of the webinar, participants should:

  • Understand NASW guidelines on ethical practices for use of technology with tele-therapy including which platforms can be used, and considerations for risks/benefits of tele-therapy.
  • Understand the history of providing services remotely and online, as well as the different methods of tele-health.
  • Review current research on efficacy of tele-health, best practices for making remote sessions feel natural, connecting with clients online, and being prepared for your first online session.
  • Obtain a wealth of online resources for further education on tele-therapy.
